What’s Up - January 29, 2009

We are moved. It wasn’t easy and we are not all unpacked and settled yet. Bob is taking off work next week and the 2 of us are going to get it done.

Bob hurt his hand and needed stitches and also chipped one of the bones in one finger. But it has healed now. His finger is somewhat crooked although he can use it fine.

We did get to enjoy Christmas with Elaine’s family and Monique’s family arrived on the 26th for a few days. David’s family was with Leslie’s family this year. We alternate years.

New Year’s was spent in a hotel because the painters were painting the inside of the house. The fumes were awful and there was not place to sleep. We would just come check on them once in a while. It was great of them to paint over the holiday.

We drove down south for Brenna’s birthday party. What fun that was!

The grandchildren and grandbabies are all doing great. We miss them. They are making plans to come up in the next few months cause we are just knee deep in this unpacking and can’t get away and we are getting grandchildren withdrawals.

This month’s birthdays are Bob D, Brenna, Ma, Joe S, Gerald, Jeff and Robert L. My new years resolution was to send all of you a birthday card this year, but can’t find my paper, ink cartridge, software CD’s so I guess I will just say Happy Birthday here.

Bob and I send you all Happy New Year wishes and Hugs.

What’s Up - November 20, 2008

Liam and Eddie were Baptized on Saturday. Joe and Monique were the Godparents and we were all together enjoying the event. We have to get use to seeing 2 boys the same age in the family. It will be something to see them play together and get into mischief at about 2 years old; and we have no doubt they will be mischievous. We also can’t believe we have been blessed with 6 grandchildren. What a warm feeling that is. Each one is so different in personality. We feel a lot of love from them and they make our lives as grandparents wonderful.

We don’t see Brenna often because Joe & Monique live far. At 10 months she is crawling and laughing. Loves to hug and loves the babies.

Erin, Corinne and Lucie are big girls now in school. They are great with their baby brothers.

Next week is Thanksgiving. Ed & Elaine/kids and David & Leslie/kids are coming up. Most everything will be packed in boxes for the move so we will have a very casual turkey dinner with all the trimmings. There’s a lot of fun things going on in the area at this time of year. Hopefully we will have a chance to go to some of them on Friday.

What’s Up - November 10,2008

The house has sold. It was such a difficult month. They are getting one big deal. Escrow is due to close this week sometime. We cannot physically move until after December 14 because that’s when the tenant at the other house is due to be out. We will rent our house here from the buyers until then. So we are trying to get the movers to move us on December 22. We will have them put most everything in the garage.

Christmas Day we will drive to Ed & Elaine’s house to enjoy Christmas with them. December 26 is Bob’s birthday and we expect Monique & Joe and Brenna to come up to Ed & Elaine’s on the way up North to be with Joe’s family for New Year’s. It will be great to spend some easy time with them for a few days. Then Bob and I will return to our new home to have the inside of the house painted. That will take about 5 days and then we can unpack. David’s family is due to be with Leslie’s family this Christmas.

I will try to send out our “We are moving Christmas cards” right after Thanksgiving.

We wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving day with lots of wonderful food to eat. Elaine’s family and David’s family are coming up for a few days. So Thanksgiving will be here. It will be very informal cause I hope to have most of the dishes packed. But I think this year we are all in the mood for informal.

This weekend (Nov. 15) Liam and Eddie will be Baptized and they are planning a combined party so we will be there this weekend.

What’s Up - Sept 30, 2008

The house is now on the market to sell. Tomorrow is our first open house for the Realtors. It’s picture perfect. We have it priced very reasonable. Hopefully we can do this quickly and painless. Although I can see myself shedding a few tears when we leave — I think we both will. Living up here has indeed been the good life. We have enjoyed ourselves very much. But after being so busy with the children and the grandchildren and some of their births this year, we know we have to do this. How precious they all are to us. Hugs to everyone.

As you all know, we now have 6 grandchildren - four girls and 2 boys. We find that we live too far away from them all. And so we have decided that BonneVie as we know it will have to change. BonneVie (which means the good life) is a place where we feel peace, the love of family, friends and laughter. Stay tune to find out what comes next.

What’s Up - April 22, 2008

Monique got here with baby Brenna after driving for approximately10 hours. Both her and Brenna were exhausted. It’s not something she will probably do again on her own. It’ll be a lot easier with Joe driving so she can attend to Brenna when needed; and hopefully will not need to have to go through a detour again. Brenna is such a good baby. It was wonderful holding her and rocking her. She has such a big, happy smile. What a joy. I miss her already. Monique looked great. She is a very organized mother. Brenna sure knows her mama. She always has a big special smile for her when she comes in the room. And we are so happy she came while Joe was busy with the weekend planned with his father and brother. We missed you Joe.

On Sunday we all gathered in San Jose at the Pizza House for Elaine’s 40th birthday. She was beaming. They are very much looking forward to the birth of their baby boy (Eddie) due in August. Erin is going to be a perfect big sister to him. She reminds me of Elaine - a little mother at a young age.

David and Leslie are also anxious for their baby boy due in July. Corinne and Lucie sort of know there is a baby brother coming but I don’t think Lucie fully understands. She is too young.

Other than both mothers being tired, they are doing great. I don’t know how they handle being pregnant, working full time, keeping a home and taking care of a family. Whew!

That’s all for now. We just wanted you to know we had our grandchildren time this weekend. It was great seeing them all and getting all those wonderful hugs. Of course it was great seeing their parents too.

What’s Up - April 15, 2008

It’s April already. David was 42 yesterday and Elaine will be 40 Friday. I can’t believe it. I must be getting older and I don’t know it. We are expecting Monique and baby Brenna tomorrow evening. We can’t wait to see how Brenna has changed. She is 3 months and 1 week old already!

I’ve been busy repainting the statuettes in our yard. We have many of them. Every so many years I have to repaint them and give them a new look.

I just wanted to write a few words for now. Will write more later. Hugs, Lina

What’s Up - March 20, 2008

It’s been a busy time for us. I’m de-cluttering rooms. We have too much little stuff on things.

We just got the news from Elaine Monday that they are expecting a boy August 21. David and Leslie are expecting their baby boy early July. We are all thrilled but what a busy year we are all having.

Brenna, is changing so quickly. Joe and Monique send pictures often. What a sweetheart.

Erin came to spend a week in mid February with us. She’s 6 1/2 and quite the young lady or tomboy depending on what she decides at the moment. Last weekend Corinne (4 1/2) and Lucie (2 1/2) came for three days and had a great time. Corinne can play dress up every hour of every day. Lucie is our little mischievous one. She looks a lot like Leslie but is mischievous like David.

With two grandsons on the way we will have to retrain ourselves. We’re not sure what to expect.

Bob has gotten a part time job. He will be a concession manager at the fairgrounds. It should be something he will enjoy. He is also volunteering/learning how to be a blacksmith at the state park. A group of guys are learning to do this. It’ll be fun for them.
